Health psychology is a newer area of mental health practice. I work primarily
with individuals and families in coping with physical disease. During my
graduate education I worked extensively in medical settings and have continued
to expand my knowledge of lifestyles and positive health practices.
Office
Policies
My office is located in the medical district of Lubbock, Texas. We are open from
8 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and other hours can be arranged. I
am a provider for most of the principle insurance companies including Blue
Cross/Blue Shield and First Care HMO.

I received my BA in Psychology from Texas Tech University in 1980. In 1984 I
completed my MA in Psychology from St. Mary's University in San Antonio. In 1988
I received my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Indiana State University.

From 1988 to 1990 I held an assistant professorship at the University of Texas
Health Science Center at Dallas, teaching in the Department of Rehabilitation
Science. While there I was also Director of Assessment for the University
Rehabilitation Center and also coordinated biofeedback services in the center.
Returning to my hometown of Lubbock in 1990 I was Director of the Bio-Behavioral Medicine Service at St. Mary of the Plains Hospital (a 427 bed general medical hospital) from 1990-1991. I have a adjunct clinical professorship at the Texas Tech School of Medicine as well as a staff appointment in the Texas Tech University Counseling Center.
Continuing
Education
In addition to my continued
interest in working with physical health issues I have developed skills in the
area of hypnosis. I am an approved consultant with the American Society of
Clinical Hypnosis and have served as supervisor for other psychologists in this
area.
