Action Alert!

Psychologists Needed to Testify at Bill Hearings on Tuesday, April 11th

BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT

Top prioritybills have just been scheduled for Committee hearings next Tuesday, April 11th and we need psychologists to come testify on the following:

Public Health Committee

  • TSBEP Consolidation (HB 2898)
  • The Definition of Psychology (HB 3266)

Senate Business & Commerce Committee

  • The Independent Practice of LPAs (SB 1339)
  • Behavior Analysts Licensure (SB 589)

This is one of the last opportunities you will have to meaningfully inform the respective committee members about your concerns with the bills mentioned above. For example: This is the time to testify before the Public Health Committee about why TSBEP should stay independent and not be consolidated with all other master's-level mental health professionals.

Call or text Executive Director David White at (512) 689-0377 if you are able to testify.

Bill Stages: Why are these hearings important?

Receiving a committee hearing is the next stage in the bill process and is movement towards the bill becoming law (see chart below). We need psychologists to testify in support of the bills we want passed out of committee, and just as importantly we need psychologists to testify in opposition of the bills that we do not want to move to the next stage.

ACTION REQUEST

Please rearrange your schedule and come to the Capitol on Tuesday, April 11th to testify on one of these bills. Hearings begin in the morning and typically last the majority of the day. While this will be a long day, it is an important one!

Call or text David White at (512) 689-0377 if you are able to testify or have more questions about possibly testifying.
