The Program Committee especially welcomes program submissions relating to the convention's theme. The proposal receipt deadline is 11:59pm, March 24

Presentation Type Descriptions

Workshops are programs based on teaching direct skills and practical application of theory to workshop participants. Workshops combine theoretical and experiential approaches to help participants increase their understanding and skills in a particular area of current interest in psychology. An emphasis should be placed on interactive workshops when possible rather than only lecture. We ask that you actively engage participants in a variety of learning modes and facilitate translation of new knowledge and skills into professional practices and services. In you proposal, explain how you intend to achieve this (1, 2, 3 hours). It is important that you include new skills that can be put into practice immediately whenever possible. Each person listed as a presenter must register for the Convention.
Symposiums consist of a cohesive cluster of individual paper presentations presented as a panel discussion. To attain cohesion, the symposium should focus on a specific topic and emphasize conceptual issues and the integration of findings. The format of a symposium usually contains an introduction to the topic background by the Chairperson to facilitate the ensuing discussion. Three to four participants (one per paper) then present their viewpoints, followed by interchange among participants and between the audience and participants. Often the symposium will end with an overview of the proceedings by the Chairperson or a discussion of relevant themes by a Discussant (optional). A minimum of three paper presentations or a maximum of four paper presentations per symposium is allowed. (1, 2, 3 hours) Each person listed as a presenter/chair must register for the Convention.

Research Papers are reports of empirical studies presented by the primary researcher. All research must be complete upon submission in order to be considered. Each paper will be allotted 20 minutes for presentation, including questions. Papers will be grouped together by the Convention Committee into 1-hour blocks according to theme. Each person listed as a presenter must register for the Convention. Those listed as authors who will not be present at the convention are not required to register. However, their names should be included in the proposal so that they will be given proper acknowledgment in printed/online materials.

Posters are in a format that allows for extended discussion of the presentation with the author. They use illustrative materials placed on a poster (maximum 4' x 4') with tables, graphs, and data. The text of the summary submitted should include a statement of the problem, subjects used, procedure, results, and conclusions. While TPA will supply poster board to which you can tack your materials, authors must provide their own illustrative materials not to exceed 4’ x4’. Since space is limited, NO exceptions will be made.
